My sister-in-law,(my brother's wife) Mrs. Kairali, who stays in Bristol, UK got a chance to perform Mohiniyattam along with her friend Sridevi in UK Parliament as part of Onam Celebration which is celebrating for the first time UK Parliament.

Warriers shine at the Kerala govt. Kalolsavam held at Kozhikode.

Photographs of newspaper items regarding the recently held Kerala Govt conducted Kalolsavam at Kozhikode. In this competition from one varier family four kids stood first in their respective fields.

1. Photo no. 1 (where two girls photo displayed) Its caption " Disciple is one step forward to her tutor" Where Parvathy Kumar is Diciple of Laxmi Das (Tutor). Parvathy stood first in MG University in Kavya Keli competition whereas her tutor stood second. Parvathy is 5th semester computer engg student and daughter of Kumar-Geetha of Erath Variem, Thodupuzha.

2. Photo no.2 where three kids: First is Sreelaxmi and her brother Krishnachandran and in the middle is Pallavi ( younger sister of Parvathy Kumar referred above). Sreelaxmi & krishnachandran is offsprings of Sajan & Sharadha of Erath Variem and also brother of Mr Kumar.

Pallavi stood first in Kathakali Sangeetham & Shastriya Sangeetham (2 items). Krishnachandra stood first in Kavyakeli & Thayambaka whereas his sister Sreelaxmi stood first in Shastreeya Sangeetham.

3. In the third atttachment amongst others Pallavi, Krishnachandran & Sreelaxmi's photo given.

Erath variem, (headed by famous photographer Chandran Varier and his three sons) Thodupuzha is full of talented artists and it is a matter of pride for all variers.

Mandala Pooja celebrated by Delhi Warriers

A cultural evening was organised at the Uttara Guruvayoorappan Temple by the cultural wing of the Delhi Warrier - DHWANI.

Bhajans and dances by members of the samithy was well attended by devotees and members of Delhi Warrier Samithy who braved the cold winds and rains to make this occassion a memorable evening.

Delhi Warrier Samithy expresses its special thanks to Mrs. Raji Warrier, Mrs. Lata Sudhir, Mr. Sreekumar Warrier, all participants and the audience for making this event successful.

Warriersonline proudly presents yet another exceptional talent from our warrier community - an exponent of Bharatnatyam and Mohiniattam in the form of Smt. Ayswaria Wariar from Baroda.

Smt. Ayswaria Wariar based in Vadodara city of Gujarat, runs a non-profit dance organization, dedicated to Indian classical dance . Ayswaria is dedicated to preserving, appreciating and promoting Indian heritage through the medium of classical arts through her Institute “Nrithyodaya Charitable Trust” Ayswaria provides a platform to young and upcoming artistes to achieve confidence and perfection. Ayswaria , who is amongst the younger generation of dancers, combines in her pursuit of the art, a rare blend of being an elegant performer, meticulous teacher, an imaginative choreographer, accomplished nattuvanaar & a prolific writer.

Smt. Ayswaria Wariar, hails from a family of artistes. She was initiated into the art of Classical Dance at the tender age of 5 by her mother Smt. Sreebala Menon , who herself is a trained dancer and singer. Ayswaria was later trained in 'Bharatanatyam' by Guru Shri Mohanraj of Abhinaya Academy. At 12 years, she began to learn 'Mohiniattam' from Guru Shri Udyogamandal Vikraman, Bombay. Having performed her 'Arangetram' in both the styles by the age of 14, Ayswaria Wariar went on to give various performances in-and-around Bombay.

After devoting 10 years to training in Mohiniattam, she further learnt 'Bharatanatyam' under the able guidance of Guru Smt. Sucheta Bhide Chapekar (Pune University - Centre of Performing Arts), under whom, she also earned her degree of Masters in Bharatanatyam. Her quest for furthering her knowledge also led her to seek guidance from Kalamandalam Saraswati. To explore the possibilities of creativity in the 'Sopanam' style of Moiniattam, Ayswaria is currently seeking professional training under Padmabhushan Shri Kavalam Narayana Pannicker, a veteran in Indian Theatre.

In the year 2003, Smt. Ayswaria Wariar established Nrityodaya 'School for Classical Dance' (A Regd. Charitable Trust) with a view to reestablish the useful link of art and day-to-day life of young talents and upcoming artists. Nrityodaya which is approved & registered under the Gujrat Sangeet Natak Academy, trains aspiring talents in both the dance styles of Bharatanatyam and Mohiniattam. . At her institute, Ayswaria Wariar maintains the stylistic beauty and individual differences of both the sister dance styles, promoting them equally, but at the same time enjoys bringing them together on the same stage. The students here, not only learn to dance, but are also given an opportunity to perform at various functions thus encouraging young talents by providing them an opportunity to learn, grow and develop into full-fledged performing artistes

Ayswaria was instrumental in putting up her student in the first ever Rangapravesham in the style of Mohiniattam to be conducted in the State of Gujrat. Ayswaria Wariar also encourages and supports her students by presenting them alongwith her, in various performances on stage.

In her performances, Ayswaria Wariar believes in being innovative within the traditional framework. She presents the traditional piece, as well as her own new choreography in her repertoire. Considering that today, Classical dance performers and viewers are not restricted to the state of origin of the dance form alone, she has adopted compositions other than the traditional. In addition to giving solo performances, Ayswaria Wariar has also composed 'ballets' incorporating both the dance styles, and group choreographies in Mohiniattam.

In addition to her chosen career of Classical Dance, Ayswaria Wariar has also been very active in Malayalam Theatre. She also freelances as an art critic & writer for various English newspapers & magazines.

As mentioned in Part 1, this performance was held three years back and the political scenario has undergone many changes. For eg. the then Chief Minister is now the opposition leader and vice versa. The Ex Chief Minister is now in the Union Cabinet. But, their styles have not changed and you can still enjoy the humour, and all the more if you are able to go back in time by three years.During the show, it appeared as if Mr.Warrier did not want the focus to be shifted from him, hence the oft repeated remarks on camera and its position.

More than in any other part of India, the art of mimicry is extremely popular in Kerala. This has resulted in the existence of a horde of mimicry artists there and no cultural function is considered complete without their performance. One man stands out from the rest in that he is a specialist in caricature rather than mimicry. His name is Jayaraj Warrier, an immensely talented artiste, also adept at singing, poetry recital and compering. Unlike many others, he does not have to tell who he is imitating, be it from the film world, literature or politics because the audience is immediately able to relate with the character. For eg. close your eyes and listen when he imitates a megastar of Malyalam screen.The performance in these videos was held a few years back and hence, some of the issues may appear to be a little dated, nonetheless, their relevance is not diminished. He talks about the significance of Onam, the national festival of Kerala and takes you on a tour of the state from the southern most district to the northern, highlighting the flavour of each region and introducing famous personalities from these places. At the end of Part 1 , his narration reaches Kollam or Quilon.Hope you enjoy as much as the audience did.
